What is FDM/FFF 3D Printing?
FDM printing is usually the preferred method for printing functional parts prototype parts, or wear items. Available in many types and special characteristics; FDM printing is also the most common type of 3D printing with a lower entry cost and overhead when compared with other technologies. FDM Printing is usually a more practical method for DIYers, hobbyists and tech enthusiasts due to the lower entry cost, ease of use & total time and material/equipment involved. FDM printing also doesn't create a mess or chemical odors unlike other printing styles such as Resin or SLA/DLP/LCP.
However there is a tradeoff with FDM models in that the process leave visible layer lines and is not capable in creating the stunning detail that resin printing can ; which is why FDM printing is a better choice for rugged or functional parts as compared to resin printing which offers better aesthetics (zero layer lines and stunning detail).
