What is SLA Resin PRINTING?

Resin (SLA) style 3D printing is commonly used for high detail parts that are usually used aesthetically for models, tabletop games figures, figurines, art etc. The high detail and minimal/zero layer lines provides a finished item that required little sanding and post processing to achieve a smooth finish, unlike FDM printing which leaves you with visible layer lines to deal with. Resin 3D printing is also a bit messier than FDM printing; usually dealing with resins, odors and chemicals for post process. This usually causes resin printing to also have a larger learning curve and cost of entry when compared to FDM printing.

However there is a tradeoff with resin models in that they are usually more brittle and fragile when printed with common resins; which is why FDM printing is usually the preferred method for printing functional parts or wear items and Resin printing is usually used for figures and models etc.

Using different resins (such as "Like ABS"), resin/SLA printing can provide both smooth finished prints that are also tough and functional - but at a higher overall expense.
